The "Annual
McLean's Town Conch Cracking Championship & Festival" will be
held on Oct 13 2006.
The highlight of this all-day festival will be the
Conch Cracking Contest,
to see which contestant extracts the highest number of
conchs in record time. The event takes place in the quaint
fishing village of McLean's Town, in east Grand Bahama
Island, beginning at 10:00 a.m. through 9:00 p.m. This
contest started in 1972 when the principal of the McLean's
Town All Age School, Mr. Jeffrey David Morgan, a British
national, organized the first contest to raise funds for the
school and the community.
