The Minister of National Security the Hon. Orville A.T “Tommy” Turnquest today announced the arrival of two new Royal Bahamas Defence Force craft at HMBS Coral Harbour on Friday 18, July.
The two 48-ft Dauntless patrol craft, the newest additions to the existing fleet of the Defence Force were built by SeaArk Marine Little Rock, Arkansas. The state of the art equipment on board will keep Officers and Marines on the cutting edge of technology to deal with the multifaceted duties they are required to perform. The vessels will be designated HMBS P-48 and HMBS P-49. An official commissioning ceremony will take place shortly.
Two additional 40-ft patrol vessels, which are also being built by SeaArk Marine, are expected to arrive in September. The United States Government has also indicated that two of the vessels it will donate to The Bahamas as part of the Enduring Friendship Programme are expected to arrive in The Bahamas by August.
