As the Bahamas Agricultural and Industrial Corporation (BAIC) readies its series on entrepreneurship, Mrs. Tonjia Burrows was named this week Senior Business Services Officer.

She is BAIC’s primary representative in the organisation and implementation of food processing workshops, in conjunction with Keith Daley of the Ministry of the Agriculture and Marine Resources.

Mrs. Burrows, who joined BAIC in November 2003, also plays a leading role in the training of prospective entrepreneurs.

An officer in the Business Services Division, her promotion was “in recognition of her sterling contributions, her very enthusiastic attitude, and her ability to perform,” said BAIC’s Deputy General Manager Don Major.

“The public can feel very satisfied that they are in very capable hands with the staff at BAIC. Mrs. Burrows is one of many competent BAIC staffers,” he said.

“We are here to serve the public. Persons may be in business for themselves but not by themselves because we are here to help.”

For Mrs. Burrows, the promotion is “an honor.”

“It gives me the opportunity to help more people,” she said.
