Dr. Lincoln H. Marshall, PhD, has been appointed Executive Director of the Culinary and Hospitality Management Institute of the College of the Bahamas.

In announcing Dr. Marshall’s appointment, COB President Jayne Hodder disclosed that the college is currently working closely with the Bahamas Hotel Association “to make sure our tourism, hospitality and culinary programmes respond to industry needs.”

She expressed gratitude “for the collaboration of industry, both as financial supporters and advisors.”

Ms. Hodder underscored that as the college moves to become the University of the Bahamas, “we will be building international links which will allow Bahamian students to study abroad” at partner institutions that offer programmes “which can enrich those we offer ourselves.”

She emphasized that this is of “great benefit” to Bahamian students and The Bahamas as a whole.

According to Ms. Hodder “this will allow Bahamian students to have the benefit of international exposure which so many want while not having to spend four years abroad.”

She announced the recent signing of an agreement with the University of Johannesburg which will allow for student exchanges.

“In identifying international partners,” said the College President. “We are always looking for those who offer programmes which can enrich those we offer ourselves. The University of Johannesburg is well known, for example, for its tourism programmes and we believe both our faculty and our students would have an enriched experience through an exchange.”

Dr. Marshall previously served as Coordinator of the Hotel Management Certificate Programme at the International Institute of Tourism Studies in the Department of Tourism & Hospitality Management at the George Washington University.

He also served as the Director of the Accelerated Master of Tourism Administration at GWU and also a tenured Associate Professor at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in the Hotel, Restaurant and Industrial Management Department.
