As the Presidents and Governors General participated in the 13th annual Conference of Presidents and Governors General of the Caribbean Community, their spouses experienced a taste of The Bahamas.

The spouses of the Presidents and Governors General include: Norma Young, wife of Sir Colville Young, Governor-General of Belize; Verna Liverpool, wife of Dr. Nicholas Joseph Orville Liverpool, President of Dominica; Gloria Williams, wife of Sir Daniel Charles Williams, Governor-General of Grenada; Rheima Holding-Hall, wife of Professor Kenneth Octavious Hall, Governor-General of Jamaica; Sally Ann Ballantyne, wife of Sir Frederick Nathaniel Ballantyne, Governor-General of St. Vincent and the Grenadines; Dr. Jean Ramjohn Richards, wife of Professor George Maxwell Richards, president of Trinidad and Tobago.

The spouses visited the Ranfurly Home for Children, Mackey Street where they met and interacted with children of the home. Mrs. Holding-Hall said she enjoyed Monday’s visit to the children’s home.

“I found the kids were so alert. All of them have ideals, hopes and aspirations. They have their plans as to what they want to be when they grow up and I was very impressed with that,” she said.

On Tuesday, the spouses were taken on a tour of the College of The Bahamas and paid a courtesy call on Janyne Hodder, COB’s President. The last stop on Tuesday’s itinerary was a visit to Kerzner International, Paradise Island.

On Wednesday morning the spouses toured Nettie’s Different of Nassau Museum, Cable Beach, and were joined later that afternoon for a tour of Nassau harbour by a private boat.
